RSPCA Certified has been improving the lives of farm animals since 1996

Previously known as the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme, RSPCA Certified has helped create a better quality of life for over 5 billion farmed animals since its inception in 1996. The program was established by the RSPCA as a way to create meaningful, tangible change within the farming sector.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to improve the lives of animals through care and evidence-based welfare advancements that change attitudes, behaviours, practices, and laws.

Our Vision:

A world where animals and people live together with dignity, respect, & compassion.

We’re proud of our achievements but importantly, we are always looking toward the future

Our goal is to raise the bar for farm animal welfare, and to do this our Standards are regularly reviewed by the RSPCA Australia Science team to consider the latest animal-welfare science and leading farming practices in Australia and overseas. The Standards are developed with the aim of raising the bar for welfare from legal minimums whilst also recognising innovative farming practices, meaning that RSPCA Certified works with a range of producers, including those who are large scale, to improve the quality of life of animals who are farmed for food.

RSPCA Certified is just one of many ways in which the RSPCA works to improve farm animal welfare

The most meaningful way that we can achieve change is by encouraging continuous improvement, whether it’s at a government, industry, producer or corporate level.

RSPCA Certified complements RSPCA Australia’s other work in this area, which includes advocating for better animal welfare legislation; engaging with government and industry to promote practice change; and raising public awareness about farmed animal welfare issues.

The most meaningful way that we can achieve change is by encouraging continuous improvement, whether it’s at a government, industry, producer or corporate level.
